A girl has been awarded €40,000 after dislocating her knee in a cinema.
The Plaintiff, aged eight, dislocated her knee when she fell in a cinema in Dún Laoghaire.
The Plaintiff’s barrister told the court that the Plaintiff had tripped and fallen over an uneven floor on the premises, striking her left knee against a cup holder on a cinema seat and was not capable of getting up afterwards.
The Plaintiff was taken by ambulance to Crumlin Children’s Hospital, where an X-ray of her left knee was carried out, revealing a dislocated kneecap. The injury was corrected by surgery.
Counsel for the Plaintiff told Judge Francis Comerford of the Circuit Court that her leg was placed in a cast for several weeks and she had missed school as a result of the personal injury.
The Plaintiff had made a substantial recovery from her injury and a settlement of €40,000 was offered by the Defendant.
Judge Comerford approved the settlement of €40,000.
